Pacific Palisades Modern
(cont.)
Close to the entry, low-growth Texas sedges are planted on weathered steel steps. These provide a connection to the orchard, serviced by a 5,000 gallon above-ground cistern. This harvests storm water which is used in drip irrigation for the fruit trees. The silvery steel of the tank complements the steel and stucco architecture.
A grove of Catalina ironwoods at the rear of the house provides dappled shade for a drought-tolerant understory planted with Aeoniums, little river wattle and Platinum Beauty lomandra.
